Fostex G16S head block assembly with a mystery

This is the headblock assembly  From a Fostex G16S or G24S machine

I originally had one with an odd peg in which was a bit of a mystery but since had 2 more and they had no peg , as far as i can see they are the same on both units

Now I have one with 2 pegs
