Teac V-9 Cassette recorder rubber tyre and belt set

Finally I have had the chance to look at one of my own machines

My unit was very clean apart from blobs of that gummy rubber, my goodness is that the biggest pain to clean, I hear people say use turps.napthia, iso etc,

Honestly only paraffin works, forget about the rest of them.

So all the belts were shot on mine, This kit includes two idlers one roller ( which for a change is easy to replace) a capstan belt, a control belt and a counter belt.

Again be careful to set the control belt at the right spot or you will break the arm.

Not finished mine yet but its opening and closing ok , (and please do not follow the you tube videos where they take the machine almost to bits)  take top two screws out on the transport, two screws underneath and maybe one more on the top, Take off the big Molex socket and the smaller two for the heads , clip the cable ties off and lift the transport out.

There is a spring on the plastic white arm, make sure you make a note where it goes, 5 mins max to get the transport out.

Only headache you may have is getting the front cassette cover off, you need to turn the cam manually which will lower the heads and release the door to open when you press it, the door front slide off and you can get the transport out.

When you change the belts just pull the two plates off rather than muck about trying to squeeze belts in and you need to clean it all anyway, the idlers are under the front so I would do all the back and put back together then take off the front and do those after.

The timer belt can just be pushed through at the end.
